# SAH rostering and services

> Configure Support at Home services, map them to SAH types, and manage roster-related FAQs

This page covers how to set up and maintain SAH services in Visualcare, including service creation, mapping to SAH types, updating charge rates, and finding agreements with special pricing.

## Setting up SAH services

### Creating and editing services

Create new SAH services or edit existing ones under **Maintenance** → **Services** → **All Services**. From here you can update:

* Charge and pay rates
* Accounting codes
* Service descriptions

To create or update services in bulk, use the **Import CSV** function under **Maintenance** → **Services** → **All Services**. See [Import CSV](/operations/import-csv) for file format details.

### Mapping services to SAH types

For a service to be claimable under SAH, it needs to be linked to a government SAH service type:

1. Open the service under **Maintenance** → **Services**
2. Set the **Service Type** to **Support at Home** - this reveals the **SAH Service** field
3. Select the correct SAH service from the field

To map services in bulk, use an Import CSV file with an SAH service code column. See [Service management](/operations/service-management) for details.

## Updating charge rates

To update charge rates across multiple services:

1. Go to **Maintenance** → **Services** → **Update Charge Rates**
2. Select the effective date
3. Click **Update**

<Warning>The **All services** option updates every service, including those with manually overridden rates. If you have services with custom pricing, update those individually rather than using the bulk update.</Warning>

## Finding agreements with special rates

To identify client agreements where charge rates have been manually overridden:

1. Go to **Clients** → **Agreements**
2. Click **Show all items**
3. Drag the **Override Charge Rates** column into the table view
4. Filter the column to **YES**

This gives you a list of agreements where standard rates do not apply, making it easier to review and maintain custom pricing.

## Frequently asked questions

<Accordion title="Why are weekend and evening rates not separate SAH service codes?">
  The government does not currently specify separate SAH services by day of the week or time of day. Providers set unit prices that account for time-of-day and weekend rate variations. Capped pricing, which is expected in 2026, is likely to address this.

  For more information, see the [Support at Home Pricing Resources](https://www.health.gov.au/resources/collections/support-at-home-pricing-resources) on the Department of Health website.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="When will the government set SAH pricing?">
  Set pricing from the government is expected from July 2026. Until then, providers set their own prices. The 10% care management fee and other contribution rules remain as per current government guidance.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="What happens if I update the mapped parent SAH service rate?">
  Updating a "parent" SAH service charge rate overrides the rate on the linked "child" HCP original service. If you need to maintain different rates for the same service under different scenarios, update them individually rather than via the parent service.
</Accordion>
